CUSH

Last night, Andrew, Wayne, and myself all got together to write and flesh out some more jams. (new drinking game; every time anyone uses "flesh out" in this blog you have to take a drink)

We worked on three song ideas. We got the first one musically mapped out. Andrew's guitar tone was absolutely amazing sounding. Maybe he can explain the sound to you all a bit better, but he used an incredible sounding Boss Pedal, that I guess at some point was a rack. But, whatever it was it sounded bitchin.

The second song, sort of morphed into something like a Red House Painter song. Beautiful chord selection and voicings. Wayne played a big part in this one working on the chord arrangement with Andrew. I would call this our funeral song... A beautiful one.

The last one, Andrew and I tackled last week. With Wayne on the drums and trying to flesh out the vibe (take a drink) it took an interesting turn. As such, we have decided to tackle this one with more of DC post punk feel and something we can't do well. So, obviously we struggled with this one a lot and called it a night. We really liked the spirit and vibe a lot. Pulling it off, well we'll see. I guess this is the challenge for all bands; when the song is taking you a different direction than you intended. Especially if it is a style of music that you are not completely skilled in.

Being in the Prayer Chain and CUSH we have always let the song sort of lead the way... We haven't really fell in to a style of music or a strict genre we just kinda see where the music takes us. I don't know if it is because we get bored easy or because we are or not good songwriters; just a curse we have to bear for better or for worse. It's frustrating sometimes because it feels like we are all over the place, but at the same time very exciting because we don't know if the next song or turn will bring jubilation or utter frustration. But hey these are the ingredients that make CUSH and we think they taste pretty good.

I am done fleshing things out. (take a drink)
